CHECK OUT THE BOAT:

Capt. Von Harten fishes a fully equipped and insured 20-feet 2007 Sea Hunt powered by an environmentally friendly 150HP Yamaha , 4-stroke engine. The boat has ample storage to stow all of your gear and comfortable seating for cruising and hauling in that banner fish.
The vessel is equipped with all necessary safety equipment, VHF radio, AM/FM radio & CD player, live bait well, and Garmin GPS unit to get us to all of the Captain’s favorite fishing spots—both inshore and nearshore.
Fishing gear is primarily lighter tackle: Shimano TLD 15's conventional reels and Penn 850SSM spinning reels, both spooled with 20lb test, are the heaviest we fish with. Penn Slammer 560 spinning reels with 15lb test line, matched to 7' Ugly Stick rods, are great for both nearshore fishing and surf fishing.
WHAT TO EXPECT FISHING WITH US:

WINTER: Cooler weather doesn't stop the fishing in this area of the coast. When winter arrives and the water cools, Black Sea Bass become very concentrated on the nearshore reefs and wrecks and, weather permitting, can provide loads of fun.
SPRING: The arrival of spring ushers the Cobia migration into our nearshore waters and sounds. Averaging 35-lbs but often going up to 80-lbs, Cobia offer a tremendous opportunity to sight cast with light tackle to target fish cruising on the surface.
SUMMER: When the Cobia bite begins to slow in late June, many other species will have made their arrival to local waters. Tarpon, Spanish and King Mackerel, Red and Black Drum, Bluefish, Jack Crevalle, Sharks, Trout and Flounder are in full force and continue through the summer months.
FALL: During the fall months, large Red Drum move to inshore waters to spawn. The Bluefish, Spanish and King Mackerel, Trout, Juvenile Red Drum and Black Drum are all trying to fatten up for the cooler months and typically feed very aggressively.
MEET THE OWNERS: Amber Von Harten, wife of Captain Von Harten, is an avid fisherman and environmental educator. She was raised in the Tidewater region of Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. With a B.S. in Marine Science, she is also a Certified Master Naturalist with 10 years of professional experience as an interpreter. Working on Pritchards Island for 5 years, she served as the research coordinator for the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Conservation Project and provided educational field programs to island visitors. Conservation is also important to A & B Fishing & Eco-Tours and both owners actively participate in the SCDNR Marine Game Fish Tagging Program and encourage catch-and-release. The expertise of the owners will ensure that your Beaufort fishing charter or eco-tour will be a true Lowcountry experience!

Captain H. ‘Bo’ Von Harten is a USCG licensed captain and 4th generation Beaufortonian. The Von Harten family has traditionally forged a living on the waters of Beaufort County for decades. He earned a B.S. in Marine Science and served as the Island Manager of Pritchards Island, a remote barrier island owned by USC, for over six years. Currently, he is actively involved with the Beaufort Sportfishing & Diving Club as the club President.
